- On the Edit menu, choose Options.
- Click the Web Content tab.
- Make sure the Show Pictures, Play Sounds, and Show Video boxes are not checked.
Tips
- If the Show Pictures box is not checked, you can still display an individual picture
on a page by clicking the icon that represents that picture.
- If the Show Video box is not checked, you can still play an individual movie by double-clicking
the icon that represents that movie.
- On the View menu, choose Refresh if the pictures on the current page are still visible after
you make sure the Show Pictures box is not checked.

- On the Edit menu, choose Options.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- In the Cache area, increase the amount of space used to store pages temporarily.
- Click Never to prevent Microsoft Internet Explorer from updating pages in the cache.
Tip
- You can delete the pages stored in the Cache folder by clicking Empty. However, pages will take longer to appear because they are accessed from the Internet instead of from the disk cache.

- Turning on multiple connections enables Microsoft Internet Explorer to download different things at the same time. For example, if you downloaded a page with multiple images without using multiple connections, the images would load one at a time. With multiple connections, the images could download at the same time.
- Four connections is the default number of connections and will give you optimum performance. You can have as many as eight connections, but more than four connections will only benefit you if you are downloading many different files from many different servers simultaneously.
- The number of connections is per window.
